The 25-year old deck was constructed quite well, but the decking and railings were starting to show their age. The main goal was to update the finished material, but also create a little more space for a grill so as to not get in the way of a table and chairs.
The infrastructure was in fact in pretty good shape and some small tweaks were made to the shape and framing to accommodate a slightly larger footprint. While opting for traditional pressure-treated pine building materails, the railing and posts/caps were upgraded a bit to give it a nice touch of class.
