As was the goal, the wall was quickly demolished and the continuous space was realized. An island-based kitchen layout was implemented with a raised eat-in table that was an after-market purchase which was incorporated not only into the color scheme, but literally into the island itself. The hardwood floors were carried through into the kitchen and refinished throughout the back section of the house. All new appliances and modern lighting rounded out the stunning transformation of this kitchen.

Possessing all the orignal cabinets and appliances from the 1970's, it was certainly time for a product update throughout. However, the wall between the kitchen and dining room presented an unnecessary division of space. The goal was to consolidate the two rooms into a more unified space .
