The steps to the second floor that were just outside of the basic kitchen footprint greatly reduced the amount of creativity that one could apply to the design and layout. The main footprint of the kitchen that existed really could be no larger. This necessitated creating a stackable washer/dryer area that was closed off with matching cabinet doors. This freed up one corner for a large pantry cabinet. To accommodate a small amount of seating, a raised ledge was constructed on the back side of the peninsula. Overall, the space was very little difference in size, but provided for more distinct activities and a greatly modernized look.
Kitchen Renovation - Beaverdam
Just one room of an entire renovation of an 1895 farmhouse, the goal was to introduce modern products into the space (not necessarily "period" components) and to better utilize the laundry closet and eating peninsula.
