While a two-story foyer may add to more dramatic entrance into ones home, for those that are space and engery-conscious, it represents mererly wasted floor space.
The open second-story hallway above was continued and extended over top of the previously open foyer. The handrailing on the second level was removed and a sitting room was created in the space previously occupied by a large chandelier. Simple and effective.
