In the first step of a mulitple phase project to convert their house to Arts and Crafts Era architecture, our efforts focused solely on the family room. A builder-grade mantle was replaced with a craftsman style entertainment unit that featured a large LCD TV above the fireplace. Dark wood plank wainscoting was removed and replaced with white craftsman style trim. Similarly, all colonial-style window, door, and crown moldings were removed and replaced with craftsman style trim. The tomato-colored upper walls provided a striking contrast to the light, clean lines of the trim below.
